George Mark Children's House focuses on quality of life and continuity of care for children with illnesses that modern healthcare cannot yet cure, or for those who have chronic medical conditions.
GMCH Services:
Molly and her family were fortunate to be connected with GMCH, a vital resource during Molly's life. Molly enjoyed splashing during Palliative Aquatic therapy, playtime in the sensory room, walks through the house’s magical gardens and calming moments with the pet therapy friends. Most of all, Molly loved the amazing care staff. Their warmth, love and dedication to Molly will never be forgotten.
After Molly’s passing, GMCH's unwavering support and comfort to her parents and two sisters has been greatly appreciated. The George Mark Children’s House will always hold a special place in the hearts of Molly’s family.
Palliative Aquatics at George Mark Children’s House has been recognized as a first of its kind program for medically fragile children and teens.
Floating and gently playing in the water is a much beloved experience that children and their families gravitate toward when they are at the House. Using warm water as a therapeutic medium, Palliative Aquatics, as practiced by our trained RNs, promotes enhanced relaxation and mobility beyond what may otherwise be possible for children with severely compromised health.
The goals of the program mirror those of Palliative Medicine overall and include: 1) providing comfort and support, 2) providing pain relief, and 3) enhancing quality of life.
Because parents and siblings are invited to participate in the program, our Palliative Aquatics program provides unique and moving opportunities for our child patients to bond with their family members.
